In reality, though, Edwin's soul was given to the demon by Edward's grandfather before this event. As a result, Annabel's and her father's souls ended up in the hands of the demon. With that, the demon felt pity for Annabel and used manipulation to persuade her to make a deal with him to kill her parents and keep everything for herself. Eventually, Annabel agreed. She also came with another deal with the demon that she would give him other people's souls in exchange for him not letting her to die as a result of the demon's flowers.
